World War I, often abbreviated as WWI or WW1, and also known as the First World War or the Great War, was a global war that lasted from 1914 to 1918. Contemporaneously described as "the war to end all wars", it led to the mobilization of more than 70 million military personnel, making it one of the largest and deadliest wars in history.

The Conflict
The United Kingdom and the United States were some of the Allied Powers that participated in World War I. The war ended with the victory of the Allied Powers in 1918.
